Sir Trevor Brooking Visit15 Nov 07 Print E-mail
The FA's Director of Football Development Sir Trevor Brooking made a special visit to Bucks CC FC at their Bucks CC Sports & Social Club premises in Lower Road Stoke Mandeville today, 15 November. The visit was made in recognition of the clubs FA Charter Standard Community Club achievement earlier this year and the clubs subsequent FA Charter Standard Community Club County Winners award in July.
Bucks CC FC officials Mike Ward (Club Secretary) and Ken O'Sullivan (Football Development) presented an overview of the clubs growth to date and the clubs intentions for the future, really taking on the community label. Mike and Ken were able to demonstrate success on the field, off the field activities, links to professional clubs and local schools. The school links were highlighted by way of quick visits to Mandeville School (Bucks CC FC are part of the schools Sports College programme) and Booker Park School. Bucks CC FC's Managers and Coaches have provided the school with a ten week football training course, culminating in Sir Trevor Brooking presenting certificates to all the schools participants on the day.
Bucks CC FC Chairman Chris Paterson said of Sir Trevor Brooking "it's been great for the club to have him visit our home; Trevor was very interested and complimentary of our achievements, all thanks to the wonderful, dedicated people at the club that I am proud to be the figure head of". Sir Trevor Brooking in a fifteen minute speech about the Charter Standard and grassroots football referred to Bucks CC FC further "its wonderful to see what Bucks CC are achieving, the clubs focus on the community side is tangible. Good facilities and good clubs are hard to find, but when we find one like Bucks CC we (the FA) must continue to support them in conjunction with the Football Foundation and the local authorities".
